I am a web developer and programmer based in Indianapolis.

I really enjoy solving problems as well as making things unique and easy to use. I can't stop learning new things; the more, the better. A few years ago (around the time of the Covid-19 Pandemic) I started to learn how to facet gemstones along with trying to find my "style" of jewelry design. Through the process of learning how to facet gemstones I was having some difficulties that I imagine most new facetors go through. Am I cutting the stone at the correct angle? Am I putting too much or too little pressure on the stone? How do I get these darn lines to line up so precisely. So I had the idea to create an automated faceting machine. I did some research and I found a few that were very expensive and more for industrial type machines. I wanted to create my own. As time went on I started focusing on my programming skills, and was able to create a mini 3D printing farm. About a year later I randomly did a search for an automated faceting machine. To my surprise, Austin has successfully created one! Great minds must think alike.... right?!? In my excitement I reached out to Austin and talked back and forth for about a month. Sharing our ideas and figuring out how we could help each other out with the project. He is very busy with his successful jewelry business and has since kind of put the development of the automated faceting machine to the side. Luckily he was open to sharing his creation with me. He has given me all he could to further the development of the Gem Bot.. He must of liked my ideas and has faith in my programming/design skills because he gave me the opportunity to purchase what he has created and complete the development. I have purchased his prototype and will continue to perfect the design/functionality of the machine. I hope to bring Merlin's Gem Bot to a final design that is fully functional and that can be sold to the public for a fraction of the cost of a quality manual faceting machine.

Our Mission

Traditional quality faceting machines are expensive. Yes there are kits out there that can get a beginner started. But these cheap "kits" are usually poorly made, hard to work with and ultimately almost impossible to create a quality gemstone with. Merlin's Gem Bot is an affordable, durable, and automated machine that is suitable for beginners and experienced facetors who would like to automate most of the gem cutting process.

While rewarding, manually faceting gemstones is a slow process. It can be tedious and frustrating, and also prone to human errors. Automating the tedious steps allows the facetor to focus on the more creative aspects of faceting. Merlin's Gem Bot allows the facetor to cut more quality gemstones, and more complex designed gemstones, with less hands-on time.

Our mission is to bring a quality automated faceting machine to market for a fraction of the cost of a manual quality machine. To create a machine that will last and function over and over again with the same precision as it did when the machine was brand new. We hope to always keep improving on our original dreams and designs.
